Martin Luther King Dinner

On January 13, Living Words participated in the annual Martin Luther King Dinner sponsored by the Illinois Commission on Diversity and Human Relations. Rev. Clyde Brooks, a friend of the SLW, is president of the council and worked with Dr. King in Chicago and elsewhere. In recent years, the dinner has honored the positive change made by people of different racial and cultural backgrounds.

The attending SLW were inspired by a women’s gospel choir and a brief but moving speech by John Burgess, an activist businessman, managing director of International Profit Associates, who is committed to excellent education for minorities.
