Sr. Bonita Rose (Edwardis) Brand, SLW

November 4, 1923 - July 17, 2002 

Sr. Bonita was born November 4, 1923 in St. George, MN.  She received her BA and MA from DePaul University in Chicago.

Bonita was an educator most of her religious life.  She loved history and shared that enthusiasm in her classes.  She continued to teach even after leaving the classroom.  Bonita was a mentor in the religious education program for the mentally challenged in her parish.

Some heartwarming memories of Bonita include her dedication to the poor, her deep joy in being a Sister of the Living Word, a loving connection to her family and her cheerful, welcoming personality and generous outreach to others.

Sr. Bonita suffered from Sjogren's Disease. She died from surgery complications on July 17, 2002 and is buried in All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, IL.
