Sr. Melanie (Norma Emma) Claverie, SLW

January 7, 1916 - August 13, 1999 

Sr. Melanie was born January 7, 1916 in New Orleans, LA.  She attended Mallinckrodt Junior College, received her BA from DePaul University in Chicago and also attended Rosary College in River Forest, IL.

Sr. Melanie was in education for elementary and high school and was principal at an elementary school.  She spent most of her ministry as an English teacher for high school.  Before her retirement, she was a chaplain at East Jefferson Hospital.

All who witnessed Melanie's last days speak of her love of the SLW community and her interest in all that related to SLW life and concerns.

Sr. Melanie died August 13, 1999 and is buried in St. Patrick Cemetery #1 in New Orleans, LA.
