Sr.
Carrie Miller, SLW
From my
birthplace of Cleveland, Ohio, to sunny California where my
family moved when I was 12 years old, to the plains of Texas
where I moved to enter a Franciscan Community, to the windy city
of Chicago when I transferred into the community of the Sisters
of the Living Word, I have witnessed the “faith-in-action” of
people around me.
That initial
enthusiasm led me to an on-going search and discovery of
connections between the Words of Scripture and the realities of
life. In turn, that has led me to the ministries I’ve been
involved in: retreat work and spiritual direction, counseling,
and parish ministry.
It was
through supportive relationships developed along life’s way that
“Hope for being an instrument of goodness, healing and growth”
has developed as the connecting thread of my life and ministry.
In Parish
Ministry, in companioning people in their spiritual journey, in
helping relieve some of the stress in the lives of the poor and
homeless, as well as when I’m enjoying Friday mornings with the
women in my bowling league, spending time with my Sister-friends
walking the beautiful Botanic Gardens, working together on
various craft projects or sharing poetry, I find joy in the many
wonders of life and in the belief that I can reflect the Living
Word, Whose love and blessing will make a difference in the
lives of the people I serve and share life with.
