Sr.
Eileen Geimer, SLW
When I was
in 4th grade I began thinking about being a nun. It
was the BVM Sisters who gave birth to my vocation and the
Sisters of Christian Charity who nourished this desire when I
was in high school. I watched how the Sisters worked with
children and thought this would be a life style I would like to
follow.
Teaching has
been a wonderful way to touch children when they need help.
Sometimes they need a listening ear, a smile, a word of
encouragement. Sometimes they need a bandaid, a breakfast, or
even a coat.
I have
taught preschool through 5th and have learned many lessons from
my students. My major aim in teaching has always been to make
learning fun. I love to teach songs and bring happiness into
the lives of the children. Some of them only find joy and
laughter here in school. Hopefully my lessons of respecting
each other and gratitude to God for all they have received will
be with them all of their lives.
Over the
years, relatives and friends have given me clothing, household
goods, etc., which I have given away to the poor in my classroom
and other families within the school. Educating children of all
faiths has helped me stay real. Each September, I give a
mini-class for parents so they can effectively help their
child. I am very happy that I became an educator and a Sister
of the Living Word.
