Helen (Roselyn) Saffert, SLW

May 29, 1918 - April 5, 2002

Sr. Helen Saffert was born May 29, 1918 in Blue Earth, MN.  She received a BA and an MA from DePaul University in Chicago, IL.

Helen ministered as an elementary and high school educator.  She was a marvelous administrator of both elementary and high schools.  In the first year of the Sisters of the Living Word, Helen served on the Leadership Team, but then went to minister to the senior citizens of St. Boniface in Sioux City, IA.  She spent her last years volunteering at the Living Word Center in Arlington Heights, IL.

More than 25 years ago when Helen joined Living Word, she indicated that her goal was to meet the challenge of living the meaning underlying the title of Sisters of the Living Word.  Without a doubt this resolve was rooted in the Word who was and is the source of her life.

Helen died April 5, 2002 and is buried in All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, IL.
