Sr.
Jeannette Daniel, SLW
Just last
year I celebrated 40 years as a Sister and just last week I
celebrated 60 years of life. It seems like yesterday that I
began a teaching career in Catholic schools. It started in
Morton Grove, Illinois and has led me to New Orleans,
Louisiana. In between, I honed my teaching skills in grades 1,
4 and preschool. In l974, when I was asked to study the
Association Montessori Internationale Method, I found that the
education of preschool children is extremely important. To give
them a solid base on which to build a lifetime of learning,
coupled with a faith-filled atmosphere, became a priority for
me.
As a Sister
of the Living Word I feel privileged to be a member of our
Community, and I am devoted to the Mission of spreading God’s
Word. Our new thrust as a Community is on working to restore
dignity to those in our society who experience discrimination.
Other areas
in which I am interested are vocations and developing a plan for
a possible new SLW business that would help support our mission
as Sisters of the Living Word. I have created several Power
Point presentations that can be used at vocation fairs or that
can be burned on CDs and sent to prospective candidates for
religious life. Ideas for a possible new business are always
being talked about. Hopefully a new venture will be created to
help us in our mission endeavors.
