For many
years I have been a member of a faith community, which teaches
scripture, praise and worship, and being intimate with God.
Over the years, I have applied myself wholeheartedly to
learning, praying and living for God. In doing so I fell in
love with Him. I found myself wanting to spend more time with
him daily and asking for more of God. So for two years I prayed
about my purpose. What is it the Lord wants of me? In
revelation the response was “Serve My People.” In further
intimacy with Him I began to understand that this was my
calling—to just serve His people and allow Him to use me in
various ways to bring His presence.
In 1999, I
went on a quiet retreat to continue seeking His face about the
matter. I began to read a copy of Vision. I noticed all of the
various Religious Orders listed with a brief description of what
they were about. That night in my room the revelation began to
take shape. Give my life to Jesus by serving His people.
I spoke with
a sister from my parish who told me about SLW, and I decided to
send for information and check their website. I was invited to a
retreat sponsored by them, followed by another, which was more
in depth, getting to understand what makes their order
different, why they do what they do and how!
The
biggest attraction was the SLW boldness, trust and commitment to
starting anew; to follow the voice of Jesus, not knowing where
it will lead them, but uniting themselves as one. After much
prayer, consultation and confirmation in my heart, I answered
the call to move forward and become an Affiliate with this group
of women. In October 2005 I became a candidate.
