Sr.
Luanne Wilhelm, SLW
Parish
life touches the lives of people of all ages. A good parish
helps people bring meaning and new energy into their work and
into their homes. This happens best when liturgy, catechesis
and justice are a priority and are done well.
The
quality of parish life is what my ministry is about. As a
parish Director of Religious Education (DRE), my ministry is to
make the catechetical component of parish life strong, reaching
from “womb to tomb.”
When I
entered the convent after graduating from St. Gregory H.S. in
Chicago, I was prepared to be a teacher. I quickly was attracted
to parish ministry, which I have been involved in all of my
life. Living Word is about LIFE and freeing oppression.
The
privilege of sharing life with others and journeying with them
happens most especially as director of the parish RCIA process
and in my ministry of spiritual direction. Participating in the
two-year training at the Institute of Spiritual Companioning
opened doors and opportunities that enable me to be involved in
the deaconate formation program of the Archdiocese of Chicago,
where I meet with deacon candidates or their wives for spiritual
direction. I know I am where I am called to be, and I am
grateful for this opportunity to share a bit about my passion in
living this life.
