Sr. Mary
Catherine Connolly, SLW
I remember
as a little girl dreaming about being a Sister and a teacher.
At that time I thought they both went together. That dream
eventually became a reality. Teaching for me was a wonderful
experience. I loved trying to instill the value of education
into my students. I also had the privilege of assisting their
parents in helping them live and understand their Catholic
Faith.
For the past
11 years I’ve been privileged to journey with families
recovering from domestic violence. I’m so blessed to be part of
their lives. My heart aches for them when I think of what
they’ve been through. Yet, there is joy as I realize the
healing and recovery that takes place.
Understanding how we’re all connected one way or another is such
a part of our SLW Community. As we reach out, the love and
support of our companions on the way is unbelievable. I’m
enriched by my family, friends, and by the varied races and
cultures with which I work and pray.
None of
this is possible for me without the constant love of God. I
know that what I do is possible only because of our love for
each other. I’m blessed, too, because I belong to the SLW
Community. We’re encouraged to reach out, to be for the poor,
the voiceless. I need the love and support of my Community.
It’s wonderful to sit down in the evening to share a meal and
talk about our day. The time we spend in daily prayer together
supports me in all that I do.
