Rose (Irene) Solivay, SLW

December 18, 2004
Sr.
Mary Rose was born September 3, 1923. She grew up on the
near north side of Chicago. She attended Josephinum and
Maria Immaculata Academy. She received her BA from St.
Louis University, an MA from Loyola University in Chicago and an
MA from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas. In
1975, she joined with others to form the new religious group,
the Sisters of the Living Word.
From
1942 until 1964, Mary Rose was an elementary school teacher and
principal. With her background in film study and English,
she moved into the high school classroom and after an advanced
degree in Theology, she taught at the university level.
She remained in the classroom until 1983, when she took her
skills to adult learners and flourished in her work with the
Associate Program and the Partners in Prayer group of the
Sisters of the Living Word.
In
1996, Mary Rose was diagnosed with cancer. She died
peacefully on December 18, 2004 and is buried in Queen of All
Saints Cemetery.
