Sr.
Rosanne Stump, SLW
At the age
of 15 I entered the Sisters of Christian Charity in Wilmette,
Illinois. During the 35 years as an SCC, I enjoyed the ministry
of teaching grades 1 to 12.
With great
hope I looked forward to the day when Sister Annamarie Cook
would lead a group of us into a new Community. Having lived
with Sister Annamarie, I knew one of her community goals was to
create an atmosphere where everyone can grow. It was a happy
day when ninety of us formed The Sisters of the Living Word.
For the next
25 years I continued to be involved in education. A special joy
for me after I turned 65 was teaching GED courses to adults ages
18 to 65. The GED classes truly freed the oppressed and gave
new life.
Responding
to the invitation of the Leadership Team in 2000, I began
working in the Living Word Center Archives. The qualifications
for the new job were clear. “We need someone who is exact, can
make up her mind, and whose hands we need not hold.” I knew I
qualified! At a future date the SLW will learn from the records
and will continue to build a community that is truly the
language of God. This is my mission, helping the Community.
Whenever a Sister requests information, the archivist and I are
grateful for our good memories and well organized search tools
which often work miracles in
minutes.
I hope I
will continue working to bring new life, to free the oppressed,
to be the language of God and to spread my passion for life and
mission. I am most grateful for my happy and fulfilled life.
