Event Photos: 50th Anniversary Louisiana Celebration

On Sunday, September 14, 2025 we gathered in Louisiana to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Sisters of the Living Word. Sisters Marilita Roy, Jeannette Daniel, Judiann Derhake, and Elizabeth Hebert from Louisiana were joined by Sisters Julia Stump, Barbara Mass, and Ruth Platte from Chicago, along with Amanda Waldhauser, SLW Director of Mission Advancement.

A group of about 80 attended Eucharistic Liturgy together at St. Edward the Confessor in Metairie and then shared a wonderful a sit-down lunch together. The lunch was organized by several staff and volunteers from St. Edwards, who really went above and beyond to honor the Sisters for their years of impact teaching in the school. The Sisters and Associates were present to visit, reminisce and welcome friends from the many parishes where Sisters of the Living Word and Associates of the Sisters of the Living Word have ministered or currently minister. Many memories were shared! A special presentation was given by Deacon David Warriner and Associate Elaine Warriner for their continual work on the Glass Half Full Project. – recycling glass into “sand” to restore the shoreline.

We owe a very special thank you to the amazing people at St. Edward’s for their work pulling together all our event details. We are grateful to the generous individuals who donated food to the luncheon, the hard-working volunteers who set-up and decorated for the event, and the volunteers who served food at the luncheon so that everybody could enjoy visiting with each other, including: Richard Donnes, Rev. Long Pham, Alica and Keith Millet, Lesli and Steve Gueydan, Annette Kirkpatrick, Michelle and Matt Torifa, Father Joseph Man Tran, Ginny Walters, Erik Youngblood, and Ted Zada.
