Sisters of the Living Word Celebrate 50 Year Anniversary
Dear Friends,
We are excited to share that in 2025 we are celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Sisters of the Living Word! It is a time for us to celebrate gratitude for all that these years have meant to us.
For our theme for this year we chose the following:
The Lord is faithful in all God’s words. (Psalm 145:13)
God is truly faithful to us and we hope to remember all those multiple ways we experience the presence of God every day.
In 1975, many of us gathered to pray, listen, and discern what God was asking of each of us.
How would our lives be changed? How would we continue to minister in God’s church?
How would we live together as we carried out this new message from God in our lives?
The answer came as we lived out the day to day of these past years. Collectively we have ministered; as teachers and counselors in elementary, high school, and college class rooms; as directors and teachers in parish religious education programs; as ministers of all kinds in parish settings; as staff in parishes and schools; and as part of various organizations that touched the lives of many people. And the faithful God was with us as we brought the Living Word to God’speople.
We continue to do this now in a variety of ways. Sisters are praying in deeper ways for all who support us. Sisters are in classrooms teaching. Sisters are volunteering in many programs related to our Core Values of Life of Faith, Living the Gospel, Peace and Justice, Simplicity of Life, Care for Earth, and Respect. We continue to educate ourselves around the issues of Care for Earth, Racism, and Care of Immigrants.
All of this cannot be accomplished without the support of so many family members and friends. You demonstrate what the faithfulness of God looks like in our world.
We invite you to join with us as we praise and thank God. Please watch your email and mail for events and special edition publications that are being planned for the year.
In the power of God’s faithful love.
